%X The purpose of this paper is to present a comparative study of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) maps generated by images of METEOSAT-10 and LANDSAT-8. A methodology using Geographic Information Systems (GISs) to generate NDVI maps was developed. The data analyzes were performed using histogram, a digital image processing technique. Two studies were conducted, the first in Ceará and the second in Rio Grande do Norte. The study results validate the use of METEOSAT-10 images to generate NDVI maps.
